                        J.R. Swindlehurst, III

                        Mert Mann

Janice Van de Bogart, Town Administrator

7:00 p.m.  Chuck opened the meeting and thanked Joanne Johnson for her service over the past year and invited her to come back in January.

7:10 p.m.  Other Business:

Janice stated that the Recreation Commission is glad to take over Old Home Day.

Chuck made a motion to abolish the Old Home Day Committee and move the committee to the Recreation Commission.  Mert seconded the motion.  All Board members voted “aye”.  The motion carried.

Janice mentioned that the October auction at White Farm has been cancelled.

Janice inquired as to whether the Board wanted a new parking area at Kimball Pond, since there is already a parking area across from the house and it would be an added expense to make another lot.  She mentioned that the tenant doesn’t like the parking lot across from the house.  The Board decided not to build a new parking area and to leave the existing one where it is.  The “No Parking” signs will come down.

Janice mentioned that the Historical Awareness Committee has received $4,800 from the sale of 192 books and that there are no meetings planned.  The Committee has been working with the Master Plan Committee.

Janice said that Bob Sallie has observed McDevitt’s trucks going in at 6:15 a.m. and coming out fully loaded at 6:30.

7:20 p.m. Jeff Nelson, re:  Commendations and McDevitt’s gravel pit

J.R. indicated to Jeff Nelson that there is a special exception for the gravel pit on Ray Rd., which stipulates that they are prohibited from using equipment before 7 a.m. or after 7 p.m.  They can drive their trucks in and out, however.  J.R. asked Jeff to keep an eye on it.  Jeff agreed.

Jeff commended the following individuals for their exceptional work (see attached letters of commendation):

7:30 p.m.  Alan Rockenback, Lions Club, re:  public service projects.

Alan suggested that the Lions Club would like to provide the scarecrow contest again this year and staff a volunteer position at the Recycling Center one day per month (this would involve a total of four people).

7:35 p.m.  Ken Swayze, Hiring Assistant Building Inspector and the release of the bond on phase 1 of Jay Dr.

Ken recommends hiring Gerry Gerdes as the Assistant Building Inspector.

Chuck motioned to hire Gerry Gerdes as the Assistant Building Inspector for a term expiring in 3/05.  Mert seconded the motion.  All members voted “aye”.  The motion carried.

Chuck motioned to release funds from the bonding of Phase 1 of Jay Dr. in the amount of $7,000.  The remaining $2,000 will be held in escrow, to be released upon momumentation and road signage.  Mert seconded the motion.  All members voted “aye”.  The motion carried.
