BOARD OF SELECTMEN

MINUTES OF MEETING

May16, 2002

Present:          Chuck Graybill, Chair

                        J.R. Swindlehurst, III

                        Les Hammond

                        Janice VandeBogart, Town Administrator

7:00 p.m. Other Business:

Chuck presented an agreement on Everett Rd. -- specifically relating to the requirement that Mr. Weston cover the decontamination of contaminated wells in the subdivision.  Chuck reviewed the previous night's Planning Board meeting.  He indicated that Mr. Weston was upset about having to replace a culvert, which is required as a result of the road narrowing.  A discussion ensued regarding what constitutes a Class 5 standard, as mentioned in the agreement.  The standards will need to be spelled out.

7:55 p.m.  J.R. motioned, which Chuck seconded, to appoint Gerald Gerdus as alternate to the Conservation Commission, with an ending date of 3/05.  The motion carried.

8:00 p.m.  Woody Bowne - re:  alarm system contract, staffing, and recycling

Woody presented the above contract, which Chuck authorized Woody to sign, as Supervisor of the Transfer Station.  Woody also informed the Board that Derek Milioto gave his resignation.  Now the Transfer Station is two people short, but has received one application.  Janice will advertise for the position again.

Les motioned to accept Derek Milioto's resignation, which was seconded by J.R.  The motion carried.  Chuck expressed sincere thanks for the time Derek devoted to the Transfer Station.

J.R. motioned to to hire Nicole Cuda as a part time recycling center attendant, contingent upon a satisfactory completion of her physical.  Les seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Woody has agreed to designate the Transfer Station as a place for community service to be completed, which the Board agreed to.

Woody also indicated that he took the state certification for level one.  He won't know for 6-8 weeks if he passed.

Recycling is up a bit, according to Woody.  He shipped 40 tons of steel today.  Gravel has been compacted and steel will be placed tomorrow for the forms.

8:30 p.m. J.R. made a motion, which was seconded by Les, to adjourn the meeting.  The motion carried.
