BOARD OF SELECTMEN

May 10, 2001

 

 

Present: J.R. Swindlehurst, Chair

                      Janice Van de Bogart, Town Administrator

 

 

7:15 p.m. Other Business:  Chuck made a motion, which was seconded by Les,  that the Town donate $75 to the Old Home Day Committee for the directory.

 

Chuck made a recommendation, which was seconded by Les, to accept a proposal for specifications for construction of the Town Hall, as proposed by John Turner, Asst. Bldg. Inspector.

 

A discussion ensued regarding the tax mapping bids previously received.   Dollard and Marin will be requested to come back and do a final presentation, before the Board makes a decision.  

 

7:25 p.m. Fred Mullen came in to seek approval for posting signs for the chicken barbecue on 6/24.

 

7:30 p.m.  Jeff Nelson, Police Chief – application for accreditation for the Board’s review.  The police dept. building – would like to put up some plywood to restrict access to the firearms, ammunition and evidence room, which is the only money item needed to receive accreditation.  Upstairs, Jeff indicated he would like to remove walls and do some rearranging of office equipment/furniture.  Jeff discussed his interest in patrolling the town’s lakes via bicycles.  Jeff indicated that he would like to appoint the most senior officer to be in charge in his absence, at the rate of pay of $15.50/hour.

 

7:45 p.m. Nonpublic session.  Chuck motioned, Les seconded.  General discussion of a police issue.  Chuck made a motion, which was seconded  by Les, to come out of nonpublic session at 8:10 p.m.

 

8:10 p.m.  Eric Hodgman, Old Robert Rogers Rd. – to inquire as to whether his property  is on a town road.  Les recommended that Jan Van de Bogart block access with some rocks, due to the number of vehicles traveling on the road, relating to site work being performed. 

 

8:30 Other Business:  Janice discussed Old Fort Rd. being called Old Fort Lane.  Les moved, which was seconded by Chuck, to change the name to Old Fort Lane.

 

The Augers noticed the stone wall around the Town Pound is in poor condition and inquired as to the procedure for repairing it.  Janice will contact an appropriate repair person. 

 

A discussion ensued regarding the granting of building permits historically, for class 6 roads; 7 of which have been granted since 1992.  Janice will check with legal counsel.   

 

Chuck made a motion to adjourn at  9:17  p.m. , which was seconded by Les.
