BOARD OF SELECTMEN

MINUTES OF MEETING

March 1, 2001

 

Present:  Merton Mann, Chair

               Chuck Graybill

               J.R. Swindlehurst

                                            Janice Jelley, Town Administrator

 

Prior to the meeting, J.R. Swindlehurst and Chuck Graybill presented Vera Fogg with the first copy of the Report, which was dedicated to her late  husband, Forrest Fogg.

 

7:30 -  Police Chief, Jeff Nelson was sworn into office by Linda Peters, Town Clerk.  Prior to his being sworn in, Chuck discussed the selection process that was followed.  Jeff thanked his family, former co-workers and Dunbarton’s Police Dept.

 

  8:15 – Joe Sowle – article on warrant regarding Old Route 13.  J.R. discussed why the Board chose to close the road in the manner in which it did.  J.R. indicated that the Board decided last week to pass over articles 11 and 12, but that any voter could speak at town meeting with respect to these articles.  Discussion ensued between the Board and several townspeople, including Joe Sowle, Chuck and James Williamson,  regarding the town abandoning part of the road.  Mert instructed the townspeople not to discuss their disputes in this forum, but they may discuss it at town meeting.

 

8:30 – James and ChuckWilliamson – brought to the Board’s attention that there is a mistake in a plot plan of the Sowle property.

 

8:40 – the Board addressed questions by Steve Abbott, Goffstown News reporter.     

 

8:50 – Mert discussed a potential policy change with regard to the Police Dept. hirings of part- time employees.  This change will be discussed next week.

 

 8:55 – J.R. made a motion to adjourn, which was seconded by Chuck.
