TOWN OF DUNBARTON

                         BOARD OF SELECTMEN

                         MINUTES  OF MEETING

                          January 18, 2001

Present:  Merton Mann, Chair

          Chuck Graybill

          J.R. Swindlehurst

                          Janice Jelley, Town Administrator

7:30 Don Dollard - updating the tax maps.  Mr. Dollard conducted a presentation

on updating the town's tax maps.  Mr. Dollard brought in samples of maps

from other towns he had updated, including a computerized version, demonstrating

the use of a much smaller scale than Dunbarton's maps.  Mert Mann requested an estimate of redoing the town's tax maps.  Mr. Dollard indicated that he charges $15 per parcel.  Janice Jelley asked about a computer program that the town could purchase.  Mr. Dollard described the available programs.  Mert questioned Mr. Dollard's availability if the town selected him to update the tax maps, and indicated that the town would be accepting bids.

8:00 Cemetery Trustees - John Thalheimer and Terry Jelley - discussed their

budget for 2001.  The only major increase in the budget is a new line item for

signage, including three signs, two of which are double sided.  Chuck Graybill questioned what would

prevent the state from taking the signs down.  John Thalheimer indicated that

the town would need to get permission from the state as to the location.  Terry

Jelley indicated that the Page's Corner cemetery is set back and difficult to

see, especially in the spring and summer.  Chuck asked if the trustees could

live with one per year.  Mert would like to see one new sign this year and

two next year.  The cost is $2,000 per sign.

8:20 Nick Holmes - Ethics Committee.  The committee had its first public hearing, with positive responses.  Nick is requested that the proposed ethics code be on the town warrant.  Nick indicated that the Code of Ethics apply to everyone who represents our town, including volunteers as well as employees.  Chuck questioned the enforceability of the code.  Nick indicated that we may need a committee to ensure that this code has "life in it".  J.R. is against parts of the code and doesn't think it is necessary.  Mert is in favor of having it on the town warrant in a manner in which Nick wants it.

8:30  Janice Jelley indicated that Larry Cook said to decrease his budget by

$100.  Janice received a request for a religious study group to use our town

meeting room during the school year between 6-7:30 a.m., Monday-Friday.  The

Board is going to wait until the church replies to a request to hold the group

there.  Jacques Belanger is asking permission to store Boy Scout paraphernalia

in the basement.  The Board denied the request.
