DUNBARTON CEMETERY
TRUSTEES REPORT
2003
The Cemetery Trustees
met on the first Tuesday of every month to discuss business. In 2003, the field
in front of pages corner was maintained year round, beautifying the cemetery. A
plan for extending the Center Cemetery has been a topic of frequent discussion,
as well as projects for Pages Corner for the future.
In 2004, the focus
will be the Center Cemetery. A plan will be developed for it’s extension
and beautification. The trustees are looking into all options. Beginning this
year, the trustees will begin scheduling painting of the cemetery fences,
starting with Pages Corner. As suggested by the Selectman, this project will be
spread over a 3 year period, repairing one fence per year.
Once the Center Cemetery project is completed, Pages Corner will be the next focus. There has
been much discussion on how to further improve it’s
appearance. Some ideas involve a flagpole, a memorial area, etc. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
The Trustees met with
the Board of Selectmen recently and it was voted to increase the fees for
cemetery lots in order to meet the growing cost of care and maintenance. Lots will be selling for $400.00 in the Center Cemetery and for $300.00 in the Pages Corner Cemetery effective March 1, 2004 and corner stones will stay the same at a
cost of $150.00.
We were sorry to have
cemetery trustee, Al Vaal, resign in 2003 due to a
family move. His contribution to the
town as a trustee is greatly appreciated and he will be missed.
Respectfully submitted,
Terry R. Jelley
