Second of two joint meetings with the Master Planning sub-committee on Natural Resources

Steve Lopez of NH Regional Planning Commission led the joint meeting.  Members present were asked to prioritize the report’s recommendations and select a Town board or commission to lead and one to assist in accomplishing the goals set forth in this chapter.

Status of local projects/Wetland Bureau updates

Keefe subdivision (Rt. 77) - Judy Keefe brought in a copy of the easement and baseline documentation including digital photos.  Margaret Watkins asked Judy to number each photo and indicate on a map of the property where each photo had been taken.  Larry Cook suggested that she provide the commission with copies of the actual documents she submits to DES.

Mattil (Gorham Pond Road) - landowner is in violation of the Shoreline Protection Act and DES has issued an administrative order requesting a restoration plan.

Scenic road signs

George Holt reported that he has ordered signs to be posted on the town’s scenic roads.  The signs will be white with green lettering.

Kimball Pond Conservation Area

Work completed

Stan Soule cut the 3 to 4 foot stumps at the problem sites along Legache Hill Rd. where vandals had cut down many young trees to use as firewood.

Work to be completed

New signs should be put up along Legache Hill in October in hopes of discouraging fires and camping along Legache Hill.

A surveyor will be asked to locate the boundaries which need to be blazed because they are not currently marked.

The area will need to be “monitored”.  LCHIP requires this to be done annually and has sent the commission a form.

NEW BUSINESS:

Appointment of alternates

Members present agreed that Chairman Larry Cook should ask the Selectmen to appoint Mel Gendron, Rick Kiah, Stan Soule, and Mark Wamser as commission alternates.

CORRESPONDENCE:
