Kimball Pond Conservation Area (KPCA)

Phase III

Brett St. Clair reported that he met once again with the attorneys handling the dissolution of the Nassikas Corporation.  He anticipates that the Conservation Commission (CC) will soon be billed for the title insurance which was required.   A quitclaim deed transferring the property to the Town still needs to be drawn up and signed.  Brett stated that he hopes that all “loose ends” will be tied by the end of August.

To be completed at KPCA

Complete blazing - contingent on a surveyor locating the boundary lines that have not been blazed

Construct small parking area on south side of Kimball Pond Road - work will need to be scheduled through the Selectmen’s office

Arrange for a timber management plan - check with UNH to suggest this as a project for undergraduates completing degrees in forestry

Limit access – ongoing problems (dumping, vandalism, etc.) are direct result of vehicle access to Legache Hill Road.  Gating will again be discussed with the Selectmen.  Signing will be obtained by Matt Lavey.  “NO CAMPING, NO FIRES” will be purchased from the prison shop at a cost of $84.00 for 24 signs and expensed to the commission’s operating budget.

Milfoil

Brett St. Clair reported meeting with over 20 members of the Lake Gorham Association.  He explained the CC’s position on funding milfoil eradication.  DES’s Amy Smagula has inspected Kimball Pond and found no milfoil.  Mel Gendron will continue to monitor Kimball while Lori Davis has volunteered to be our “weed watcher” on Long Pond.

CORRESPONDENCE:

Received from DES/Wetlands Bureau – dredge and fill request. 24 acre lot is located near end of Old Hopkinton Road. Construction of a wildlife pond would impact a 9000 sq. ft. area.
